Hello,

I have this problem with my computer where the video card doesnt boot up from cold start ups. the vc is also supplied with power by its own line from the psu. when i hit the power button, the fan light is off, as is the external power connector light from the psu.

to get it started, i have to power down several times and try to boot it back up. randomly, it starts up after ever so many repowering it up. I've tried reseating the vc, making sure the plugs are properly in place, tight, and with good connections.

Do you think it's a vc problem? Everything in this computer is brand new.

You have an SLI board. There are 2 PCI-e x16 slots. Is it possible to try the 6800GT in the other slot to see if it works? Not sure if the slot closest to the CPU has to be populated with a PCI-e card in order to let the second slot work. Also, there should be an SLI card in between the SLI slots. Is it set to SLI? or Single? Just a thought.

check ur ram, i had set that my mobo was not happy with. changed it and no problem, my sli used the top slot for single card.

Reseat everything in your system. Try another video card (if possible). Basically im trying to get you to eliminate your variables. You could also try another psu or, as suggested above, try out some different sticks of ram if you have any available.

If the card doesn't power up, or it's random power ups, its a dead/defective card.

Your Enermax PSU is AWESOME, if the card never worked outright, it would make it harder to narrow down, but considering it sometimes powers up, it's gotta be the card.

update.

it turned out to be a bad gpu.

i rma'ed it with newegg and got a new one.
