HELP! BFG 6800 broken, removed thermal grease also...

OK, the computer in my sig was making a funny noise, so i open it up and discover one of the small fans on the graphics card, a BFG 6800 OC, was not working. See a generic pic of the card here: http://www.bfgtech.com/6800OC.html

Pulled it out and then discover one of the fans blades broke off! To try to see more, i removed the copper base and the thermal grease for the GPU and the RAM came with it, now a little grease is left on the copper, some on the core/RAM. I guess i will RMA it, but will it work in the meantime? The only reason i wouldn't RMA is because i software modded it to 16 pipes. And, the temps seemed fine without the one fan (i ignored the sound for a while, thought it was the HD)

pics pics pics, take a pic and post it; i'd like to see that!

I think he means "the thermal grease (that was on both) the GPU and the RAM came (off) with (the cooler)", not that he pulled off the RAM chips (which are soldered onto the board). I think. That's an extraordinarily vague sentence.

You can't RMA it (well, you probably *can*, but you'd be scum); you've voided the warranty several times over at this point. Buy a new cooler and you should be all set, though.

1. removing the cooler voids all rma rights(if there were themal pads on it and it came off/tore, they will know)

2. softmodding voids all rma rights(they wont know about this)
