I just recieved a new 1.2GHz T-Bird from Newegg and noticed that three of the gold pins on the underside are bent! I haven't even taken it out of its packaging yet! Is this CPU fouled now or can I just 'massage' the pins back to vertical and hope all is well?

Thanks for any tips on fixing this properly, assuming it is fixable...

How much bent are they? if they arent bad you can Carefully bend them back with a small pair of needlenose pliers. Or if you dont mind the wait you can send it back and get another.

Just bend the pins back into vertical positon. The CPU shouldn't be effected. Once they are bent enough to fit into the ZIF socket, put it in, push the lever down, and it will bend them all back into mint condition. I have bent the pins on my K6-2 many times, and it still works just fine.

They bent anywhere from (I am guessing here as I don't have the core with me) 8 to 20 degrees off of vertical.
