I just got a new AXIA 1000mhz retail and I installed it onto an MSI K7T Turbo that I baught off the forums. Here's the problem in my biosI the lowest I can set the clock is 133
and my CPU is a 200FSB so needless to say well it overclocks to 1333 real well as I am currently useing it (of course thats not the problem LOL) the problem is heat it is running at default voltage thats cool but all I have is this retail HSF. right now as I type it is at 52c.I'm affraid I'm going to burn this up when I start playing my games should I be worried or should I run 3DMark 2000 and see if it locks up and or what the temps running it are?please help I can't afford to burn this up.If I do I'm screwed with no PC for a while.this is the first time I ever ran an athlon and well 52c idle seems hot to me.

EDIT: MY CASE temp is like 23c
also my bios shutdown temp is set to 70c the lowest will that keep me safe?

HELP ME OUT PEOPLE

Thanks people and thanks to mikendi I found out there's a jumper on the board to set it to lower FSB duh

i would guess you should invest in a better HS/F instead of having to buy another athlon, but i dont know much about them. but 52 idle seems pretty dang toasty

and get good case cooling. the best hsf wont do sh*t if your case is too hot. and if you're worried about frying your cpu, your bios might have a shutoff mechanism to shut down when the cpu reaches a certain temp. I have mine to trigger the off-mechanism at 65 C. so far it hasn't gotten up that far, but if it does my computer will automatically shut down, hence saving my CPU from frying.

The jumper switch your looking for is on your mobo. I suggest you swing over to MSI's site and download the manual. At least you can switch from a 266 FSB to a 200 MHz.

50c-60c temps are not uncommon with the turbo board It tends to read temps a bit higher than most other boards when the voltage is set at default it gives a higher than spec voltage try lowering the voltage settings in the bios this should help your temps.
