help: autohide feature gone awol!

sudddenly encountered a wierd little problem:
the little autohide arrow has gone from the notification area on my taskbar leaving everything on view. i have tried checking and rechecking the feature in the properties [even rebooting inbetween] but to no avail.

to make it even stranger it is still present on the taskbar of the other users on this machine.
how do i get it back on my user identity??

Consider yourself lucky. I absolutely hate that "feature". And as you can imagine, I have no idea how to fix your "problem". 😉

Is the Hide inactive icons box checked under Taskbar Properties? (Right-click on the taskbar and click properties.) Also, you can click on the Customize... button for further settings.

yes it is checked and to "jog it along" i unchecked it, rebooted, checked it, rebooted, changed the advanced options on some items and all to no effect.
believe or not just in case it was pointing to an impending larger prblem i copied all my setting/docs etc to a backup file in another user, deleted my user and then built another one...and not only is the problem still there is now also occurs in the user where i saved my data [but not in the other 2 users!!!]
:frown:😕:disgust:
