HELP!~ aurel sound card lock up in windows 2k.

hi.
i have an aureal sound card (vortex2)
when i play winamp, the sound locks up, and just stops playing.
winamp seems to freeze, but i can close it with no problem.
after that, i have no sound what so ever.
only a restart or reinstalling the drivers help... for 2-3 minutes
when my winamp locks up again.
a friend of mine told me to try wpcrset(?) but
it didn't really help

Make sure you have your motherboard drivers installed. I had a similar problem until I realized that I hadn't installed my motherboard drivers. That fixed it.

Also:


Go into control panel. Click on "sound and multimedia." Go to the top tabs, and hit the audio tab. For both sound playback and sound recording go to advanced and make sure that the hardware acceleration is maxed out.
