[Help] Ati Radeon X1950 Crashing/Hanging

have yo removed both the slots on thhe back of your pcs o give it air flow,my x1900xt is dual slot and i had th same problem until i removed the second slot of the pc which was blocking airflow.

At this point I would suspect a failing graphics card but really, it could be other things such as your motherboard or PSU as well. Process of elimination, try testing the graphics card in another system under the same scenario.

the thing is, the card works fine except for trying it on newer games.
I've also never had a card (or any computer part) fail after only 2 1/2 years of use.
 
is this a 1950 pro? A sapphire card?

and you are seeing artifacts?

if its a first revision card then RMA it or buy a newer card. They had a serious failure rate.

I had to RMA mine 6 months after purchase. The replacement has been flawless. The newer revision has the fan in the front of the card and the heatsink and 6 pin connector at the rear.

also make sure you have a good PSU for this card. A cheap PSU will cause the card to fail. I actually went out and bought a PCP&C 610 Silencer for mine way back in 2007.

I also noticed that the newest legacy drivers (9.11) had issues with newer games.
