I see the SMD-resistors and I have a 550 Athlon K7, http://www4.tomshardware.com/cpu/99q3/990826/athlon_overclock-02.html

shows me im on the right track. It says I have to change them. But it doesn't say how. Am I supposed to solder out the resisters and put them into the slots I would prefer the speed of the chip to be? So I can overclock the 550 to a 900?? Whats the max I can do? or what should I do, it says change it, and tell me how they look,m but thats it.. doesn't tell me how and how much. Could someone help me out please?

Yes you have to unsolder & resolder to the apropriate location.

And dont forget to up the voltage a bit too.

A 500 would probably reach 700 easy, but beyond that you will need to solder the cache speed to 2/5.those 500's have slow cache chips.

But in my opinion it would be much safer to just get a gold finger device & oc that way.

ok so I change the SMD-resistors, now what? do i put it back up and it should work or do I have to change the BP_FID, or any other settings? Should I set up all the settings to be 700?

Is it really worth it going through all this modding instead of paying $15 for a gfd?

There are 3 places that you need to change the settings & 4 if you count the voltage.

Better off getting a GFD.much less chance of killing the cpu.
