i been using a 850 set up but im tired of fighting to get a deal on ram im about to buy a new asus P4T533c and give this old dell to my daughter. someone point me at an asus thats comparable in performance using the cheaper DDR ram? i dont want to cut much in performance to save a few bucks.. i dont overclock so thats not a prime importance although nice. 4 mem slots 5 pci minimum price of board not an issue.
Thanks any opinions welcome..

There isn't that much of a price differential between RDRAM and DDR SDRAM, particularly if you want to buy PC2700 DDR SDRAM.

You DDR SDRAM choices are the P4B533 and the P4S533.

None of the 845 (D,E or G) or Sis645 (645 or 645DX) boards have 4 DIMM slots (the chipset doesn't support it), and the ones that have three can't support three double sided DIMMS. If you want to use all three slots you must use three single sided DIMMS only, with a max of 3gb (although 1gb DDR DIMMS aren't available) I don't know about the boards with VIA chipsets.
