HELP ASUS A7V333 ONBOARD LAN DIED!!!

Like the title says my onboard lan all the sudden stopped working. The device manager shows it as an unknown pci device. I tried installing drivers for it but they cause an error 10 code. Even tried a clean format and install no help. Any ideas are appreciated.

What OS? Tried a different driver version? Is the device enabled properly in BIOS?

winxp pro and tried updated drivers.....with the asus a7v333 you cannot disable lan....there is no option in the bios for it.

I have the same problem but with the A7V8X.
I think there's no solution.

does it show up as a pci device in system devices in the control panel?

Did you allow windowsupdate.microsoft.com to update your LAN driver? If so, I've had this same problem before. Open Add/Remove Programs, remove any network device drivers you may find, then go to the Device Manager, and uninstall the current network adapter. Reboot, and it will find the network device. If it does not automatically load drivers (that work), use the manufacturers drivers. You should then be good to go.

thanks for the help but no go :disgust::frown: I even tried force feeding the drivers. I think it must be a hardware issue......hate to rma but oh well

Got a spare hard drive? Try doing a quick install of win98se or somesuch, to see if it can then load the drivers properly.

Or is your problem that the Local Area Connection appears fine in the Network Connections screen, and the LAN adapter looks fine on the Device manager screen, but IE can not bring up web pages? If this is the case, open a command prompt window, and try pinging your ISP's DNS server. If that works, the problem is that your networking components have gotten screwed up. I've seen this happen on various boxes, in fact it happened to mine yesterday! All you need to do is go into Add/Remove Programs, click the Add/Remove Windows Components button, and remove the networking. Reboot with the LAN port disabled in the bios, then reboot again, re-enabling the LAN port. Winblows should load the drivers automatically (or you can load them manually if it does not), and you should then be able to get back on the net.

karfar - your a7v8x doesn't have an option to disable onboard lan and throw in a nic card? I have an a7v8x-x (cheapo version) but it's there in the bios. Check again; maybe you can go that route.

Well sure, you can do that, but it does not prove or disprove that the on-board LAN port is bad or not. If it is, then perhaps an RMA is in order, before any warrenty expires.
