Help Asrock Dual Sata freezing in games with sound on

My system will freeze, video freezes, but sound stutters or keeps going when playing a game.

So far, if I disable sounds in my games, I get no freezes.

The sound card is an original audigy. It worked fine in my p4 system for a long time.

I haven't played with turning down acceleration on the sound card yet.. was wanting to see if anyone else had this issue.

Help please!

 
Check your device manager (resources by connection) and make sure it's not sharing an IRQ with another card...

update your Audigy drivers...

Thanks Professor, I had checked those two items a while ago and they look good.

Do other sound card brands "play better" with AMd systems?
 
I don't remember this happening when I first got the system.

Something worth noting is that the freeze seems to occur when an area comes up where there are a lot of sounds coming at once.

However, I can play a game with lots of onscreen action/with sound off and the machine never hiccups.
 
I'd turn off EAX if it's enabled in your games...

Did you try a different slot? The higher up the better I think (some random tip I read somewhere). I have the same card and have no problems with it in the middle slot.
