I have an 800 Duron @ 800.....it is running at 40C under full load(SETI).....is that safe? i just put arctic silver on it yesterday and it didn't help my temp AT ALL.....i have it just on the core like it says on the web site, earlier i had the cheap stuff spread EVERYwhere on my cpu....

(2.)
My bro has a 1.2 Athlon @ 1.2....it's at 45C under full load....is that safe as well? He experienced a 4 degree increase after cleaning his CPU and applying arctic sliver....what's up with that?

help!

In my [not so] expert opinion:

You're perfect!

You have nothing to worry about that I can see. Of course, second (third, fourth, fifth) opinions are alway good to corroborate.

okay, the temps are good *can breathe now* but shouldn't arctic silver have lowered the temp, not made it higher, since it's "really good" most people say it lowers' 'em by 4 degrees or so...

we both did the same thing, originally we both just took two-three tubes of cheap $1.50 stuff and just squirted it ALL over the cpu(missed the core alot).....when we got arctic silver we both used a soft cloth and wiped the old stuff off, then took another cloth, soaked it with rubbing alcohol and cleaned it up nice....then we squirted a small amount onto the core and spread it around evenly, some came out when the hsf was put on....
