Help ASAP wiht video card

i need help wiht my new video card its a nvdia fx 5200 and right now i have an onboard intel card
the problem is when i hook my monitor line to the nvdia it shows a blank screen and i cant see nothing
 
have you disabled the onboard intel graphics?

You can do that in the BIOS...

if you want some help with that just shout out 😉
 
Do you know how to get into the BIOS?

I wasn't aware IBM made desktop level motherboards, sure that isn't the brand on your computer tower?
 
ya i know how to get in the bios and about the brand thing ill check it now... well this is what i found out Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz (512KB), 256MB, 40GB 7200RPM IDE HDD, PCI Microtower (3x5), Intel Extreme Graphics, 48x CD-ROM, Intel 10/100 Ethernet, Windows XP Professional
and on the motherboard it says ibm 😛

As i recall, hit delete repeatedly when you restart it...so before it starts booting into windows. Sniff around a bit and you should find it, make sure you don't touch anything else, then save changes and restart with the nvidia card in there...
 
could you tell me the exact place since i was in the bios for an hour and i dont think i found a disable button.
 
It varies from BIOS version to BIOS version...

maybe there is a heading called 'chip settings' or something? You press enter when you have the option (which should be called 'onboard VGA/onboard graphics' or similar) and a menu should pop up with two options, enable or disable. Highlight disable using the up down arrows, then hit enter.

If you have trouble finding the option, do you have a digital camera & know how to upload pics? Take a pic of the main BIOS menu & post it on here (upload it to here http://pics.bbzzdd.com/ , you have to signup)...we'll be able to tell you what to do...
 
i dont have a digtal camera 🙁 but i just went to check my bios out and the closest settings was the video settings the options were
Active card
something with having to do with memory
an option where u pick PCI or INTEGRATED card
and Appature
 
Try this:

Uninstall onboard video drivers in windows.

Reboot and go straight into BIOS and set that setting to 'PCI'.

Install new card.

Go back into BIOS and look to see if there is now an 'AGP' option and if there is, set it to that.

Otherwise if there isn't, just try booting to Windows anyway, install drivers for the new card and see if 'AGP' is enabled by running DXDiag. To run this, go to Start ---> Run and type 'dxdiag'.


It's all I can think of right now.
 
If it's AGP and it's actually detected on a hardware level, then the chipset integrated unit will automatically disappear.

What this means is, the system hasn't detected the AGP card in its slot. Is it seated all the way?

Plugged in all the way. So, setting to "PCI" instead of Integrated didn't do it? weird... and yes, you obviously have to uninstall the Intel graphics drivers first. Make sure you're saving settings when you exit BIOS?
