help, are there any utilities or anything to recover data files

sorry if this is a total faux pas, but I wasn't sure which forum was the right one [a repost of same query from software- apps, prog & games forum]



I loaded video capture software the other day, it killed my HDD.

Windows98se refused to load, kept getting error messages about invalid page faults in explorer.exe, so I made that HDD a slave & added a new HDD as master, loaded WinXP pro on. I thought everything was fine. Some files from My Documents seemed ok.

But I've since discovered that I've lost all of the files, mail, and even address book in Outlook 2000.

Does anyone know any way to recover that info?

Any utilities in windows, DOS, anything that might help?

Anything? I'm desperate.

Try "TuneUp Utilities", they may be able to recover some files.

you mean you can't find the .pst file for your outlook settings? unless it createred from a page fault, it should be there. just do a search for *.pst in all files and folders and it should turn up.
