Help!! Appreciated: Dual Booting Win2K and WinME Help!!

hey guys,

i'm doing a dualboot for me and 2k but i'm having some problems. i have me already installed and when i pop in the w2k cd to install it says "windows 2000 cannot detect your version of windows. setup cannot continue." is there some way around this. i know that w2k came out before wme, but there's lots of people who have done this dual boot. what am i doing wrong?

He's right--install WinME first. WinME and all Win9x versions overwrite the master boot record, so you should install it first and choose "clean install" for Win2k and put it on the other partition/hard drive. Win2k automatically configures boot.ini to dual boot with Win9x/ME/NT. Also, DO NOT CHOOSE TO UPGRADE TO NTFS if you're going to dual boot ME/2k. The ME boot sector can't read from the NTFS partition and you'll just hang the system (done it many a time, trust me). If you have to have NTFS, use a boot loader of choice.
