guys,
I have a Maxtor 92049u6 drive which is a 20GB drive (19540 after format in NTFS).
For some weird reason it sees it as a "36766MB Drive".

Is there a way to reset this drive. Its never been used. It has been lying idle for a long time because of this problem. I am afraid that if I put data in it might get corrupted.

anyone have a clue on what to do with this drive.

Edit:
Anyone?

Download Maxtors utility off of their website. Run Maxdiag, there are 3 tests, quick, read, and write. If it passes all 3 tests, it is not the drive that is the problem. Chances are that your bios does not support the drive, or you do not have SP4 or higher.

the bios reads it fine, infact I tried it on a newer machine and it game teh same results.

I will try Maxblast and see what happens.

BTW I am running SP5.

as a last resort try the following
FDISK /MBR
repeat above line 3 times

then re-boot with MAXBLAST disk in drive A
that may cure your problem
