Hi,

I am a noob here as well as with AMD tech. I have used pentium for a long time and it's not cutting it.
I know nothing at all regarding the AMD 64 mobo except all the things I read in this site and forum...so that's about 3 hrs of knowledge.

I had 3 mobo in mind before I came to the site. However, reading through the material provided me with the following info.
Asus K8N-E Deluxe - Limited overclocking
Asus K8V SE Deluxe - Issues with VIA K8T800's PCI/AGP lock
Abit KV8-MAX3 - Issues with VIA K8T800's PCI/AGP lock

I admit that K8N-E Deluxe sounds nice and it will be a while before I decide to learn/play with overclocking. It might not be necessary to have a ass-kicking overclocking mobo, but it would be nice to have a mobo without too much limit.

I just need a mobo that's reliable, perferably with Gigabit LAN, and other decent feature.
I am willing to spend up to $160.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Serigus

which socket type do you want?
if you want socket 754 with either the DFI or chaintech motherboard with the nforce chipset great stable board good with OC and stabiltiy make sure to use a athlon 64 3000 not a 2800 it overclocks better

if you go with socket 939 go with the asus K8V deluxe or the MSI platinum the msi board has had some issues and the asus board agp/pci lock has been known to now work properly sometimes but i believe the asus board is a bit better stability wise but the msi overclocks better

I just picked up a Gigabyte K8NS Pro, and I love it. This replaced my my K8V SE Deluxe, which was the bane of my existence. :|

have owned the abit kv8 max3 for about 7 months now, only problem was the cheap northbridge fan they stuck on it started failing after 3 months. Seems they took a great board and stuck a cheap sleeve bearing fan on replaced with a lifetime ball bearing fan (tho) and all good so far.
