I have already laid the groundwork for most of his research with 2 threads on this and established enough rough coprrelation to come up with some possible hypothesis of what the issue was and is and how it is related to whether you use AMD's X2 cpu drivers or not....
I think I have clearly established iti s not a hardware issue but a software issue an maybe mnore specifically the OS...It can not be hardware because ppl with identical setups and games do not have same issues...The difference is and hard to get the real answers is whether ppl have all the updated drivers, patches, fresh installs of the OS and the games, etc....
Something I am leaning more to are...
1) more ppl running WinXP home have issues with out a fresh install then those with winXP pro....this may have something to do with how the OS sees the X2. In home to take advanatge of already existing support AMD used the INtel HT flags. Perhaps there is something with the OS properly identifying those flags and setting the HAL correctly.
2) the cpu drivers work well when added but perhaps all the games need to be reinstalled after this point....
Without a doubt this is a software issue. I have not seen any reports of superpi another single threaded app acting funny, or any other non gaming app period...iof you know any please let me know...However it has to be considered odd the issues are only in gaming!!!! Hmmmm!! Seems like commonsense to me...If it was a hardware issue several apps wopuld be plagued with issues.....
