Hey all...
I just picked up a Hansol H950 (Samsung 191t) locally. Here is the situation. It is looking much better in analog mode than in digital. I have a couple of theories, but I will get to those in a moment.
Here is the main problem. Using the digital capability, when I play DAoC in windowed mode, the entire screen flickers and jumps around. I also notice some ghosting (to be expected) in many other games. In addition, my WinTV video looks like crap. There seems to be a lot of "snow" in it whether it is full screen or windowed.
Just for fun, I thought I would hook up the monitor in analog mode and see what happened. Using the monitors "Auto" mode, everything looks great. The colors are far more rich, and I seem to notice less ghosting in games. The flickering that occured with DAoC is gone. The TV looks fabulous in both a window and full screen. Much better than my Samsung 900p ever looked.
So what is the deal? I know that this should not be the case.
Here is my current setup... (or at least the important stuff)
Abit NF7-S
Athlon XP 2100+ @2GHz
1 GB Kingstion HyperX memory
PNY GForce3 Ti200
Hauppauge WinTV
My theories are this.
1. Perhaps a bad DVI cable, but that would not explain why it jumps around only with the one game
2. The GF3 Ti200. I'm not sure if these earlier cards had good DVI or not. When I bought the card, it really wasn't used that much. I bought this particular card just in case I ever wanted to use DVI.
Any thoughts? I don't want to have to return this monitor (a gift from the wife... got to love her) if I don't have to.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
