Help an old geek remember somethin!

Does anyone remember the name of a text-based bbs game where there are 4 elements, like air, water, fire, and earth? I don't remember much about the game, but it had salamanders, amulets, and some other stuff. I've been trying to remember what it was called for a long time with no luck.

i think a volcano was involved somehow. like you enter some volcano and fight things in there. someone must know... it was a sweet game!

Isn't it something like Red Dragon? Used to play that game back in middle school (early 90's)......this is gonna kill me....hahaha.....forgot about that game

Realm of Immortals.....Legend of the Red Dragon.......you could only play once a day until you used up all of your energy.....the whole object of the game was to build up your character and defeat enemies along the way through text......does this ring a bell?

Legend of the Red Dragon was a very if not the most popular door game. It was usually called LORD for short. It's not like the game you described though.

Realm of Immortals seems to be an IGM (addon) for LORD.

Talismans I've never heard of. Here's the readme for it. Could be what you're looking for as it does mention elements:

Develop Magical Talents by Mastering one of the Five Elements, namely Fire, Water, Air, Stone, and Life

yeah that does sound like it... i've been looking for talisman to see if i can play it, but no dice so far.
