Help! AIM closing by itself!

For a few weeks now my AIM has just been closing itself spontaneously. Only notable "event" that's happend is that someone im'ed me with some strange message...and pretty much around that time AIM has closed itself randomly. Any solutions?????

someone could have a 3rd party program that they are booting you with, or, it could be a simple problem like my friend experienced, his cable gives him bad packet loss and aim drops him occasionally.

well it doesn't just drop me..the program physically closes...e.g. it disappears from the tray icons and all. If it is a 3rd party software is there anything i can do to prevent it? I mean I'm not accepting any more "messages".

If it's closing when you get a strange message, set AIM to refuse all messages from people not on your list. If you know who is causing the problems, ignore him.

block the person or block the buddies on your list..

theres a few 'punts' that can kill your aim with no problems.. heh

Well no one else has aim'ed me w/ any suspicious messages since then...so I can't "ignore" someone per say. And I've already ignored that person that im'ed me.

HELP!!! =(

hmm.. I misread your problem. I thought AIM closes upon the event of that strange message. So, it just randomly terminates itself without another prior event?

Have you tried reinstalling AIM?

he's getting booted by someone.. 2 of the kills are anonymous, one isnt.. first 2 close your aim without notice, 3rd crashes it.. either block everyone not on your list or whatever..

i'd tell you guys where to get the program to protect you from them, but unfortunately its the same program that DOES the boots, and there's huge potential for abuse.. besides, the site is a kinda 'hack/phreak/warez/whatever' type site..

i didn't uninstall the old version and reinstall it...i just "reinstalled it".

I was having a similar issue Bruin. I am not sure what is causing it.
