Currently on my network I have a server with a 56k modem running MS Proxy 2.0 for internet access. I will be adding a high speed line and another server in the next month or two. The line will be a T1. The new server will be an Exchange email server, IIS webserver, DNS server for my domain, and would also like it to be a BDC for my network. What do I need to do to get everything working correctly!? I need a router and a CSU/DSU for the T1 line...next question is physical connectivity. The T1 runs into the CSU/DSU, that feeds the router, and the router plugs into my switch. How do I isolate my internal network from the internet, but still allow the public server (email, web, ftp, etc) access to the internal network. Does this server have an ISP assigned IP, or an internal IP? For the clients I would just make the router the default gateway. I'm assuming this will eliminate the proxy server, or would you recommend running the proxy off of the public server? I'm in serious need of help! I'll supply whatever information will help! Thanks for any technical insight anybody can provide!

I am running @home cable service, behind a router and switch. I am still able to use the @home proxy server, mail, and ftp. I am able to do this because I set the my DNS server to be the @home server.

It depends, some routers will add on the FQDNs on their own. With others, you will just have to input your FQDN into the DNS suffix entry of your client computers.
