guys,

i need help in figuring out what should be done. i have Pentium II 266 MHz Sony computer, model PCV210. It has a 4.2 GB hard drive. I want to either add another Harddrive or replace this one with new higher capacity hard drive like 30GB or 40GB. But Sony website says that BIOS on my computer cann't have hard drives more than 8.4GB. Is there any way that I can do this? What are the solutions, buy new BIOS (Dr. BIOS) or get another PCI IDE card and attach the hard drive to that.

Please inform me what can be done, relatively inexpensive.

Thanks

In order to use a hard drive bigger then 8.4 GB. You will need 'EZ Drive software' which comes with the Western Digital hard drives. Most other brand names of hard drive's comes with some sort of software also with it just for these cases like yours. Without this there will be no way you could get the full amount of space out of the hard drive.
