HELP! Adaptec 29160N BIOS

my friend tried to upgrade his controller bios, but it was extremely slow during the process so he thought something was wrong and turned off the computer. after he re-start, the controller couldn't be seen in the POST. he later tried to flash back the rom bios since it was backup before flash, but still no use (kept saying the ROM BIOS is invalid). after he took out the card, it was an Adaptec OEM (version 2.57.1) that seems pulled from a Compaq server. however, the controller still works under Windows. is there any way that it can be restored? he gave me the card now and if there is no chance, i will just sell the card for him on ebay to get some money back at least. i've tried to find the bios file on Compaq's website, but i don't think that helps and he couldn't get support nor replace from Compaq either. anyone? thanks a lot.

Did you go into its utilities? hitting the ctrl-A when the scsi card is looking for drives.
It will take you into a menu of utilities and the card bios, if you can default the setting and save them, It should come up then, If not or you have already done this I suggest you try updating the firmware again, And again go into the cards own bios and deafult them and save it.
After that its up to you but that should work.
