Help! Accessing files transferred through DOS.

I recently had to re-install XP, because the system wouldn't boot up. (long story, damn McAfee ASAP.) Anyhow, I tranferred several folders between hard drives, re-installed windows, and now I can't access the folders through windows. They don't show up as folders anymore, just files with no extension.

I tried to create or change them back into folders through dos, but that didn't work.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you install XP all over again. Only this time, at the beginning of the installation you'll be given the chance to complete an Auto System Restore (ASR). If the ASR program fails to get your XP right, then I would recommend a clean install of XP. I hope you have a good backup system for your data. Good luck.

It's not actually XP that did anything bad. McAfee screwed something up. I tried to salvage some file folders, like pictures and music. But when I copied the folders from one drive to another, the second drive didn't see them as folders. When I view the properties, under type of file, it says: file. That's it. I would like to convert this information back into a file folder if at all possible.

Thank for your comments.
