pc2700 hasn't been compatitible with many boards around, only the real DDR333 boards. You can try it, but it might not work. I see little reason to use that memory, unless you really want to overclock, future chipsets won't need it for performance.

Certainly, go with DDR RAM, but don't jump and spend your money on the pc2700 just yet,
as it hasn't been well established and recognized by most motherboard manufacturers.
If you can, buy Corsair XMS 2400 DDR RAM, as it'll give you the most memory bandwidth and
stability. If ya can't do that, go with a well known brand of DDR 2100, and try to get the kind
that has CL2 in it. (it's the number that stands for the memory's refresh rate, most
memory is CL 2.5 which is slower than CL 2.0). That is, you still won't get your actual memory
bandwidth up to the theoretical speed of 2.1 GB/sec, but the CL 2 rated memoery gets you
pretty darn close to it (as SiSoft Sandra 2001 benchmarking tool indicates).

Micron is makeing ddr333, and it says it's backward compatible.
If I buy ram right now, I would go with pc2700. The price is about same, and it's gonna run at cas2 pc2400, at least.
Just make it sure, the pc2700 is compatible with your current board.
