I built just built my system [finally!] with the A7N8X deluxe [pcb rev2.0] motherboard. It was:
Athlon Xp2100+, 2 x 512MB PC3200 RAM [twinwos w/ winbond BH5 chips], Maxtor DM9+ 120GB HDD, Sapphire Radeon 9500pro, Liteon 48x CDRW, Artec 16x DVD.
the on-board bios was 1002
When i power-on the system failed to post and immediately all 3 lights on the keyboard started flashing and stayed flashing continously. No beeps. The lights for the cdrw, dvd and hdd came on and then abruptly the system turned off.
I checked EVERY component against another machine and they worked fine. Then i remembered that i had disabled the SATA controller by the jumper [moving the jumper from default 1-2 to 2-3], having been scouring these forums for a few weeks beforehand to get info and the advise was if you dont have a sata hdd then this was the only way to disable the controller to speed start-up time.
When i put this jumper back to default the machine powers on and POSTs normally!
I do not have a SATA drive and would prefer to disable this controller to speed up POST and start-up time. Is this problem a fault with the board i have and should i return it, or is it a bios issue, or something else?
I would be grateful for a swift responce.
