Hi

I am not much of a techie but here goes.. I want to increase the Cpu's heatsink fan's RPM.. it sits at 2600 I have seen it go upto 4500 in earlier days.. I tried a few settings in the Bios with the Smart Fan control but it only reduces to 1800 or max is 2600 I tried various settings

My Basic pc consists of,

Motherboard - Foxconn RC4107MA-RS2 with ATI Chipset
Intel Pentium D 2.8Ghz with stock Intel heat sink & fan
Artic Cooling MX2 thermal compound

Temp CPU - 45 deg C
Temp System - 31 deg C

I read a few topics from google and some suggested to reun the 4-pin Cpu fan direct from the Powersupply, I think

I am looking for a 4-pin fan adapter to 4 pin Molex, as I need to connect my CPU fan directly to power supply instead of the motherboard as the motherboard controls fan's rpm and reduces it whereas power supply will run it at full rpm, any other suggestions, also what is this adapter called and where do I get it??

Why would you want to speed up your fan? All that will do is increase the noise level. Your temps are just fine (45C is cool for a CPU, especially those old P4D netburst chips). I would guess your system will automatically speed up your fan if the temps rise too much.

Actually I forgot to mention, The Cpu temp were reaching 72-80 degrees and system temp was just 31 deg.. even then the Fan RPM was at 2600RPM and wasn't increasing like it should.. I applied the thermal grease a couple of days back and the temp came down to 45 deg C .. anyways if anyone knows the Smart fan PWM settings for Phoenix Bios plz let me know as the manual on the mobo driver cd is not very useful.. or any other way to increase the RPM of the CPU fan, If its too noisy I will switch to current setting...
