Hello fellow Schultz!

I'm not too familiar with AMD's bus speeds anymore, but 285 seems pretty high. You could add in some more juice (1.4V max) and loosen memory timings if that's what limiting you.

Did you set many things that are usually on auto to set values? If you didn't, the motherboard compensates most clocks with the bus speed. Lock most values down.

Wait until others reply to see if that's right though.

I am attempting my first OC, I have read the Dolk guide as best as I can understand at least and this is the result from my CPU Z http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1261952 How does this look? My Ram only scores a 5.9 in Win 7 am I doing something wrong?

Are you using on board video? Looking at that image I think you are. I got the same score when I used my on board video on 790GX. I upgraded to discrete video and bam the score shot up to 7.6. My timings are 8-9-9-22-1T@1600Mhz operating at 1.65v. You could try tightening the timings though but in real life you wont notice any difference.

I really don't know the reason why scores are low when using on board video but it is very weird.

I am looking for a good value card as I don't play games just video playback.
Considering something like a 9800 or a GT 240 but I am not really sure what to look for yet, still trying to figure that one out. I am using HDMI out on the board now for video only but would like a card that has the ability to do 5.1 over HDMI. My surround sound processor doesn't pass my HDMI video from my computer for some reason (it shows video through post then it is gone) so I am using optical out to surround and HDMI to my Samsung plasma.

If you want to use loss-less bitstreaming like True HD & DTS HD MA. I suggest you go for ATI 5450, its passively cooled and also supports 7.1 audio through HDMI.

Go for the cheapest one among those.

Nvidia cards doesn't do loss-less bitstreaming. If you are fixed on Nvidia then go for the GTS 240.
