Help a hero build his house.... **Updated** $200,000 as of 6-1-2012 4pm!!!

I cant tell you how fit and dedicated EOD Navy guys are. I 'm almost certain the % of those who go for and pass for EOD training is only about 20-25%. Considering how select of a group these guys are physically and mentally, I'm not surprised at how he kept calm even while bleeding out. I saw these guys every day on base while I was on active duty. They're tough. This is proof of that.

My friend clears IEDs in Afghanistan currently for the Marines. I'm not sure if that would make him an EOD. Anyway, I feel awful for this guy. I know I'm scared daily for my bud's life down there. This made me tear up in a bad way. 🙁

For those saying, "If I had the money."

You don't have $5? $1? In the grand scheme of things, $5 isn't much compared to the $140,000+ already raised, but how do you think it got to that amount? It wasn't 140 people donating $1,000 each.

we have a saying in Denmark, "many small streams makes a big river" (it rhymes in danish).

If someone were to give $1 or $5 to every worthy cause, it would add up too.

what about all the other injured guys not getting free houses?

never makes sense to me

It actually does. We all understand that there are many others like him, but we don't know their stories. So, as soon as an opportunity present itself, such as this one, you act. that's what makes us human.

You can also actively seek out those in need, and do your part. Sitting here saying that ” if I donate to everything...” or ” there are others” aren't exactly constructive. You can be selective in your donations, and that is your prerogative, or you can stand by your reasoning and do nothing at all, which is also a choice.

Sounds like these types of donations need their own "kickstarter" site - a centralized location where people can post their stories should they need/want financial help. 🙂
