That's the risk you take when you get involved. Just call the police.

The guy getting his ass kicked was apparently there with his buddies, and allegedly took a chain from one of the people beating him, slapped the woman's ass, or both. He's also an ex-con with a rape conviction. All in all just a bunch of people who either deserved beatings and/or jail time.

I've jumped in to help strangers. A drunk guys head was getting kicked in on the subway by two thugs who were looking to fight and rob someone.

Calling the police wouldn't have stopped them from kicking this dude in the head. Of course I knew that I could be attacked by fists, knives, or firearms.

If it was someone that I knew I would have very violently attacked them by surprise, and I considered it anyways for my own safety, but decided not for my legal safety.

I've also ran down a thief and pinned him to the ground. And I've gotten in the middle of a bunch of bar fights as a bartender.

Then again, if I had no clue what was going on, or if the situation was really ugly I'd stick with 911. Its all situational dependent.

Sometimes I act and sometimes I freeze. I err on not doing anything because a lot of the people that get into these types of fights are degenerates and I'm not risking my health for them.

I in no way mean this to be arrogant or negative, but it's just the truth. They aren't worth the risk to ME. Anything obvious where an innocent person is getting seriously fucked I will PROBABLY jump in or do something.....

Yeah that's what happened on my subway incident. I saw the whole thing go down from the start. You could tell that everyone on the train wanted to jump in but was afraid to, and I don't blame them.

let's say you were a good samaritan packing heat and the guy getting his ass kicked was not a hooligan. would you risk pulling out the gun to defend him? how would that play out?

"He went on to College and eventually became a lawyer. Last week he entered a fast food restaurant. Just ahead of him, two men got into an argument. One of them pulled a knife. Chris who would always make the best peace tried to break it up. He was stabbed in the throat. He died almost instantly."

Given that it's now illegal in NY to even own a gun with more than 7 rounds and I'm counting 7 guys just in that one video frame... pulling a gun in that situation may not be a fantastic idea. Of course, it's NY, so if you did pull a gun, you'd probably be in jail for the next 30 years of your life and paying damages for emotional distress to the poor youths that you put in fear.

In this case I would keep walking and hope they all just killed each other, and saved the tax payers some money.

Stopping seven people is going to be like stopping a herd of charging elephants. Without major firepower it is going to be way too difficult.

Thanks to our sue-happy, everybodys a victim society, being a good samaritan is almost never worth the risk. Had you intervened and gotten beat up badly, you likely would have been sued for hurting the guys knuckles who punched you.
