help a firefighter play games :)

i only have a tnt2 video card with 32mb of ram and it cant do 1024x768 at 32bit with all the gfx turned up to super-high quality.

i want a card that ***can*** do this though. could you recommend the best bang for the buck of a card that can do 1024x768 at full blast quality for games like RTCW and serious sam 2?

thanks a lot. links help too.

The best bang for the buck?

I say sell your TNT for $30 and get the Visiontek Xtasy 5632, which is a 32MB DDR GF2 GTS card. You can get it from newegg for $70 shipped. It will be a whole lot better than your TNT.
If you want to go a little higher, a GF3 Ti200 might be a good choice, but I wouldn't really recommend spending $170 on one. I'd much rather get a Radeon 8500 retail.
You can also get a Gainward GF2 Pro with 64MB 4.5ns DDR memory for $99 at bestbuy. I had that card and can recommend it highly.

I bought a Gainward GF3ti200 and RTCW looks simply stunning. Gainward cards also OC VERY nicely (i oc'd 175/400 into 220/500 w/ ZERO problems)

mine was 179 shipped i believe from newegg.com

Don't try to "go to the top" too often, though 🙂

Since we have no idea what the rest of your hardware looks like, we can't recommend the best videocard for YOUR needs. However, I would highly recommend a $97 overclockable (ignore the word "overclockable" if you don't know what it means) videocard based on the GeForce2 Ti (Pro) chipset, it has 64 MB of RAM, and is made by a good company).

NewEgg.com:

GAINWARD/CARDEXPERT GEFORCE2 Ti450, 64MB (NO TV-OUT) DDR 4.5ns - RETAIL

(search there to find it, couldn't link directly to the product).

You really can't go wrong with getting a GF2 card. Just make sure you get one with 64MB. I just ordered a MSI G2TiPRO-VT. You should be able to pick one of these cards up for around $100.
