Help: A few questions about hot SCSI swap bay on Intel Cabrillo server

I've found myself with an Intel Cabrillo server (quad
Xeon SC450NX motherboard, 6 slot hot-swap SCSI hard
drive bay, etc.)

I've never dealt with a hot swap drive bay before...A
few questions:

1) My understanding, from the reading the Intel literature,
is that SCA hard drives are to be used. Are all SCA
drives the same, or are there more parameters I need
to consider (other than physical dimensions, which are
obvious!) Are there special drives or special drive
requirements for drives to be placed in a hot swap
bay? Does LVD come into play here?

2) Are there performance issues related to using a hot
swap bay? Will I get the same performance as I would
using a standard SCSI cable connection?

3) How in practive does the hot swap bay work? If I
slot a drive in when the machine is booted up, does
a "new device found installing drivers" kind of message
appear (akin to USB)? Or do I need to to the
device manager and ask to detect/install new devices or?
If I want to hot swap a drive OUT, do I need to first
make the drive inactive using the device manager?

Thanks. Sorry for the stupid newbie type questions. But
this is the first "real" server I've had to work with...

Thanks,

Kwad
