ok, so it's finally coming. 4 months, and I will get my B.A in math, and I still haven't found any leads on jobs.

What I want to do is to work at a place where I can apply my math skills. I really love applied math, especially in the field of statistics and probability.

the whole last semester, I have been looking, but can't find anything. I looked into acturaries, government jobs, but all told me they weren't interested.

living in the world of oklahoma right now, it is really hard, and I can't go out of state right now. but right now, while i am still in school, if I can get some lead, that would be so great...

Can I get an atot effect on this....thanx guys.

Consulting firm? Think tank? Maybe something entry-level at Birkshire Hathaway (I know it's in NE, but that's not far from OK)?

If you really really can't leave the state of Oklahoma with a degree in Math, I'd just get an accounting certification and go from there. There aren't many options out there unless you're willing to move to a big city.

thanx

well, it's not that I can't leave. It's just that I need to finish my schooling before I leave, and I would like to have some income too while i'm still in school. If I can find a related job, then I would feel like i'm not wasting my time.

Ah, gotcha. I have a bunch of friends who just finished school, moved to NYC or Chicago, and toughed it out until they found a job. Might you try the same?

i think one of those "job support" thread for other majors would be an excellent idea. i myself is of pharmacology major and i can't find any permanent job for the past 7 months... being a temp sucks!

i even stretch my goal a bit and am willing to work in repetitive jobs... but i still can't find one

well the only thing that you can do is keep looking, and don't worry, you're not alone!

i'm willing to teach....but I dont have any certs for that right now......and (not to be too picky), I dont want to work w/ kids.

the only experience I haev is a customer rep selling eyeglasses, and been there for 3 years.......so the only relevant quality on my resume is that I can keep a job...

btw, do we have any atot oklahoma employers here want to interview me? :)
