I told Jason last night (after I sent him a mere $10/ PayPal) that he should, from his words, "pay it forward".
I didn't rule out the "scam quotient"...but I took a shot.
My $10 is sitting in limbo (unclaimed) because he doesn't have anyway to deal with cashing it out...I have an envelope with a 10 spot ready to be mailed, as I promised.

There has been such an enormous response to his plight that he is trying to "balance things out" by giving away his sellable items!

This story is "A Christmas Carol" in September. If you are unaware, I suggest you drop by FS/FT and check out the thread(s).

Very cool!

All those who really care about Jason should stop replying/bumping this thread. It is a big waste of your time and energy to argue with asshats.

All those who do not care: STFU.

I will laugh my ass off if this turns out to be a scam. Goddam I should have made up a sob story myself and collected at least a few hundred bucks.

Look to the top right of your threadpost box, PipBoy...
Notice how you don't have your profile enabled?...that means you haven't made 1 single deal with other members here.
If you die (LYAO) in a forest or in a crowd...we probably won't come running to YOUR aid!

I turn it off when not FS/FTing so random fvcktards have no info. In any case I wouldn't be begging here for money.

ATOT never stops amazing me!! But then it is SO easy to spot the suburban 16-year olds that their parents have been providing for.

Look at the other thread we have going about some of the details of the trip. Photos will be up in a while too.

This is NO scam! Jason can hardly stand on his two feet or carry a conversation. They live in a trailer park and they are making do as best as they can. All info about Jason and why we were collecting the money for him has been provided in the linked thread. A lot of people though instead of READING it, they just let their a$$es do the talking. We posted Jason's FULL name, address & phone number as well as his email address & forum ID. So, Regs & all the others, call Jason up since you "want to talk to the father".

What goes around, comes around. A LOT OF PEOPLE in this board sent in their contributions (some VERY generous) with comments about how they have been in this situation and can appreciate how hard it is.

Jason has been on Paxil for a while, his money & insurance ran out so he made the choice to feed his family rather than buy Paxil for himself. So he had to quit cold turkey. Paxil is notoriously difficult to get off even with assistance, let alone cold turkey. He has been off of it for just over a week now. From other internet info it seems to be taking anywhere from 2 weeks - 2 months for the withdrawal symptoms to subside. Not prety or easy on him or his family. A lot of people have suggested using the money donated to get him back on Paxil. I see his point that he would rather ride this out rather than have to deal with this again.

This money raising fund is by no means a permanent or long-term solution. Just something to help right now at rock bottom. Making sure that the kids are not starved, they have a road-worthy car for Shery to get a job & run to the social services and a bit of money to help keep the roof on top of their heads.

It is a shame that we become a society that would first believe that a situation like that is a scam, then think 'what if it is not?'.

What is even bigger shame is the people that as long as their a$$es are comfortable, they don't give a darn about anyone else around them. But as I said, what goes around comes around. I hope you NEVER ever find yourself in a dire situation. But if you do, you will be praying then that someone is there to help you.

Helping your fellow human should never be a burden, it should be a joy. Glad to see that at least in this community some still see it this way.

Will you cut that crap out already, fsckhead? Bottom line, if you want to solicit money for the guy, do it in private or in a community that knows him. Most of OT doesn't know him, FS/FT might. Get it through your thick skull.

Why is everything in his FS/FT thread basically free?

I would be more than happy to throw him a few extra bucs for the hardware..

This is my understanding of it... this changed once he knew there were donations coming his way, and he feels this is his way of giving back immediately. Yes an interesting concept to be sure. :Q

Yes, very thoughtful but..If he really needs the help i would be willing to give him some cash for it.

:)

I'm a highschool senior and i do my fair share of community service. I find putting efforts to the Red Cross or some local help organization much more beneficial to a community in general. I feel bad for the guy, but if he really needs the help there are organizations who will help people in need like himself. Also, doesnt he have relatives? I think if people would help large organizations like the Red Cross rather then jump all over on a single case we would have a much larger effect. I don't understand some of you people who are yelling at people for not helping funboy Helping another person is helping another person. Will/Have you be helping a homeless family when you see them on the street? or donate money or clothes to local organizations? If the answer is or has been no, then you are just a sunshine patroit.

If he still needs the medicine, he should try and contact GlaxoSmithKline to see if they could help him out on the paxil. I've heard of people in similiar circumstances getting free or heavily discounted prices from drug companies. It's worth a chance. From the sounds of the side effects though, that medicine is pretty intense, so I don't know if he'd want to get back on it.

Jason,

You don't have to answer to any of these jackwads. Ignore them and take care of your family and yourself.

Not to mention a cat with 5 paws!

That's worth some spare Paypal in and of itself!
