|HELP| 9800Pro displaying massive corruption at desktop?

Hadn't been using system much past week or two, started up other day and shortly after boot it began displaying massive artifacts/visual corruption (3 thick sets of vertical bars, funky colors, shifting bars, unreadable/usable etc), nothing but startup services, OS, etc. has been running and it keeps repeating the same results. I removed the card and checked the fan, looks fine, checked it while running and the card's fan is spinning fine. Could this only be overheating?

Video drivers were updated about four weeks ago and had been running fine, no overclocking of any kind.

WinXp Home
ASUS A7N8X Dlx
1 Gig Corsair XMS Ram
AMD Athlon 2600+
ATi 9800Pro
/Thanks.

peace,

1. open case and make sure fan is spinning at correct speed.

2. if it is, download either of these
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=391
http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATI_Tray_Tools_d4569.html
http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATITool_d4109.html

and install.

then underclock until these "artifacts" dissapear.

then, start saving up money, your video card is dying.

2b if fan is not spinning or not spinning at right speed(slow ro not spinning), turn off pc immediately.
buy a new fan.
like tihs(what I used)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=35-186-110&depa=0

quieter than stock and cools better. It's pretty big though. Also you can porbably find tihs for cheaper elsewhere.

Fan looked to be spinning fine.

The screen was flooded with artifacts, so much so making it impossible to read any text in the oc'ing software, even after waiting 24hours before a boot, managed to underclock to 1/4 speeds with ATI Tray Tools 1.0.5.824 but it didn't change anything.

Will try the card in a different machine (no real reason), have another card in the orig. machine now.

Yeah I'll be needing of some cheapy very low-level basic vid card I imagine as my MOBO doesn't have any on board video processing, I don't need anything above displaying video/word processing etc.
/Thanks.
