I just received my 8KHA board this afternoon, and am trying to get the system running. I also want to mention a little quirk with the board for others who may experience the same problem.
First, I had the minimum setup........1.33 AMD CPU, hsf, vid card, one stick Crucial 2100 (128 meg), and an AMD approved 420W power supply.
When the system finally got some power, all the fans started whirring but there was nothing showing on my monitor. The LED's showed "FF".......in the manual it shows "FFh".........and says, "Boot attempt (INT 19h). I really have no full idea what that means.
I was under the impression that when you power up a minimum setup, you would see a bios screen. Is that right....or do I have to install the hard drive, cd rom, and floppy first? Or is there some other problem that I am not aware of??? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I would really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!
Now for the little quirk: I initially tried to start the system using a Gainward GF2Pro.......but nothing happened........no power, no fans, nothing. I then put in another vid card - an "original" nVidia MMX card. Again, nothing. Then I decided to reset the bios, and while moving the clip, all of a sudden the fans started to whir and the LED's worked. I shut the system down, and tried to restart. Nothing. I left the power switch on and started to jiggle the bios clip. After moving it up and down a few times, the power came back on. I had to keep moving the clip up and down in order for it to work. Once the system was running, I could push the clip down firmly, and the system kept running. But each time I shut down and restarted, I needed to jiggle the clip.
Now, I dont know if this problem will correct itself, and I dont think it will - I will probably end up returning the board, but I wanted to share with others who might be having the same kind of problem. If your board doesnt seem to be getting power, try jiggling the bios clip.
If anyone can help me with my video problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
