Has anyone else experienced the problem I've described below?
FYI,
In XP and 2K, whenever the 8500DV's remote receiver is plugged into USB AND the ATIX10 software is in the systray AND one attempts an S3-type standby (i.e., suspend), the OS halts, followed by a system reset. The same error will occur if, instead of going into suspend mode, one unplugs the USB RF receiver.
I have spoken with ATI tech support about this. They confirm that it is a problem and say they are working on a fix (I'll believe it when I see it). In the meantime, I have been looking for a program that will allow one to unload the ATIX10.exe, go into suspend, and then re-load ATIX10.exe on resume. I have found some software that looks like it will do this, but it is only supported in Win9x, not XP or 2K. See http://digitalminer.tripod.com for the software. I refuse to go away from XP/2K. So, if anyone knows of an alternate solution to this function offered by sleepsmart, let me know. I am seriously considering writing my own solution, but fear a more-than-justafiable development effort.
