HELP - 633/bh-6 Overclock Trouble

Hi All,

I am trying to upgrade from a cel300a to a cel2-633 on a abit bh-6 motherboard. I recently had this pc go down because of a virus. Apparently my visdeo and sound card drivers were corrupted. I decided to rebuild into a large tower case and upgrade the processor at the same time. So far I have the bh-6 mounted the hard drive, floppy, and a cdrom plugged in. I have the 633 on an abit slocket III with a thermaltake golden orb. Video is a creative riva tnt card. At the moment when it starts to boot It says mmx 98 mhz and that is all. I don't think it does the normal memory count. I have tried swu\itching back to the cel300a and that caused a blank screen/no video signal to the monitor. I also tried reseating the memory chips and removing one 64 meg chip to see if that would help. Q. does the bh-6 bios need to be flashed before trying to start with the 633 chip even if the bus speed is set for 66 mhz. Does the slocket need to be set for ppga or coppermine for the 633 chip. also can the voltage start out at 1.65 (current setting ) and 66 mhz bus.

Any help will be appreciated.

reset your bios and set your slotlet to default and also your motherboard might not support the 633 but it should. also try reseting the computer a coupe of times, sometimes abit motherboards need to be cold booted a couple of times to work
