i was, ironically, backing up my storage (40gb) drive when the copying process encountered a corrupted file (in the first folder because of my luck) and my computer froze. When i rebooted, windows said that the drive was not formatted. i lost all of my backup data!!!!!! plz tell me there is a way to recover the data!!

You've probably wrecked the partition table. Your data is probably still recoverable. See if you can find EasyRecovery Pro or similar utilities, that will rescue the partition.

If you can't find it, let me know.

i tried everything and easyrecovery has saved all of the "recovered files" with odd extensions that i can't run. has anyone had any experience with easy recovery and know what it is this means? Could the names also be corrupted?
