Ever since I swapped mobos (from a KT133 Abit KT7 to a KT133A DFI AK75-EC) I'm getting these probs. Just for the record, I didn't remove/reinstall anything after swapping the hardware and have had no problems (aside from this) yet. First off, whenever I launch a game of CS at first I get really low FPS (but it gets up to normal later). This is because my HDD starts crankin' like crazy. Basically it seems to be working slower when loading the game then before. And in the BIOS (unlike that of the KT7) there's no feature to enable UDMA which is odd. The next issue is this: random power-offs. Sometimes my computer will just reset for no apparent reason. At first I thought it might be due to a lack of power, but I only have 3 drives and a 330/350max watt Enermax PSU so it can't be that. All the cables are inserted completely as well. Any ideas? Finally, I have an APC surge protector so it's not that either. Thanks!

First off, what OS are you running? When you swapped mobo's and turned it on, did Windows?? find any new hardware? This sounds like either a virtual memory (swap file) problem or a hard drive controller issue. I am leaning more on the side of slow data throughput from your hard drive. The reason the games start to run normal after a few minutes is that by that time, the game is loaded into memory.

Is other software slow to load? Try playing a long avi off the hard drive and see if stutters the first time it is played. I am not familiar with your mobo, but is there an ATA 66 or 100 controller on the mobo that you need to load the drivers for? Look in device manager under storage devices.

I alway recommend a reinstall of Windows when switching out mobo's... there's so many system devices... and chipset drivers... it's good to go with a clean install...
