 :disgust:

I'm having some connection problems with a cable modem connection. I have two computers hooked through the Linksys router. One of the computers has access all the time. The other computer's access is intermitent. When it has internet connection, it is really slow! But when the second computer (bad connection) is hooked directly to the cable modem it works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You should try a different cable also, in case the one that you're using for the second computer is bad. Also, look in your router configuration to see if there's anything blocking the port that the second computer is connected to from getting higher speeds (perhaps a filter or something like that). You can also try swapping out the network card to see if that works. Hope this helps.

I have tried all the ports on the router and they all have the same result... intermittent connection.

I don't think it's the cable either, because if i connect the same cable from the router directly to the cable modem it works fine.

I checked the router settings and there are no filters on that would block any access to any of the computers.

Any other ideas... i'm really stuck on this one.

Yep, I've got the latest firmware running also. The only difference I can tell is that the 1st computer has a 10mbit NIC and the 2nd ("bad" connection) has a 10/100 NIC. But that doesn't explain why it works fine when directly plugged into the cable modem and not the router.
