HELP: 16-bit color doesn't work anymore

YaKuZa

Senior member
I switched my desktop to 32-bit color and everything was ok.
Then I switched it back to 16-bit and it looks like crap now. It looks like the 256 color setting for some reason. Everything is affected by 256 colors including my icons and even explorer.
What happened? And how do I fix it?

EDIT: I am running XP.

Thanks.

Go back to 32-bit? Unless your running a ancient video card on a ancient system there is no reason to stick to 16-bit color.

That aside you could try clearing the Icon cache. Do a Find Files for "iconcache" (without quotes of course) Only one file will come up in the results, just delete it and reboot. Note: when you do the search you need to click Advanced search options and set it to include hidden and system files, otherwise you will get no results.
