Help! 1152*864 resolution gone :(

I updated some drivers from EVGA's website for my 320mb 8800GTS (Vista64) and suddenly my 1152x864 resolution option is gone from the display settings. This is the best resolution for me I've been using for years so please advise on what I can do to get it back. Thanks!

I've had this issue as well but it was 1600 x 1200 that went missing. What I ended up doing is using a program called Reforce and add your desired resolution in as a custom resolution and refresh rate. It should then show up everwhere else like control panel, in games and whatnot.

You can also try adding a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel, but I've had mixed results doing it that way. It goes without saying just make sure you're not specifying parameters that your monitor is incapable of displaying. Best of luck.

Thanks for the tip NP, but I DL'd the program and it doesn't seem to be working with Vista64.
Can't seem to find the Nvidia custom resolution option available either.
Anybody else? This is very frustrating.. 🙁

Tried rolling back drivers and removing drivers completely. That resolution is still missing and now I discovered it's gone from my games too!

Uninstall the drivers from safe mode, Run Driver Sweeper (or Driver Cleaner), Restart Normally, Reinstall old or beta drivers. If it doesn't come back, run your monitor at its native resolution and it will be fine.

Sounds like you may need to do it manually by editing the registry (since that's all Reforce does anyway I believe) as I've seen instructions for this on the web. Unfortunately I can't remember where and I haven't tried it. A Google search would probably turn up some results. There are also other resolution/refresh management utilities that can do it but they need to always run in the background which I don't like, but it may work for you. Doesn't Rivatuner have something like this?

BTW, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers never worked for me either. The last known drivers that didn't have this problem (at least for me) was Forceware 158.22.

I had this problem too, but I lost 1680x1050, the native resolution for my 22", picked it up for the 20" but the 22 would run 1600x1200. 1.5 hours on the phone with evga later and they told me to try the latest released, instead of the reccomended, or beta drivers. It could also be that the driver thinks your monitor does not support that resolution, check the display properties and make sure HIDE UNSUPPORTED MODES is unchecked.
