I'm new, i was just wondering, I have a spare PC laying around, bo monitor, no keyboard no mouse, could I use it for anything I have all the peripherals for my PC im using, but what could I use this spare one for?

No point in a file server, just put the hard drive from the old box into your live PC and backup to that.
