Like I predicted in the ill-fated Oil / Gas Price Thread .

Just thought you'd want to know.

$2.49 @ Valero
$2.47 @ AM/PM
$2.55 @ Chevron

I'm sure the rest of you are paying less than that now.
But As The Saying Goes"Where California goes, so goes the Nation."

Enjoy your weekend!

Compared to last year's ramp up, this is a cakewalk.

Just hit 2.20 in MA, 2.45 when I left NY. I found it amusing that gas on the Mass Pike was less than it was a regular city station in NY.

It's still way better than last year, but there has been a huge increase in price... it's not quite $2.50 here in PA yet, but it's already around $2.20-2.30..... a far cry from the ~$1.50 that it was around Christmas time....

Somehow I think that "it is still better than last year" will be the excuse that the oil companies use as they nickel and dime their way back up to the previous levels by this time next year. :(

2.59 regular west of Chicago... Certainly not as bad as 4.30, but ehhh, but it still brings bad memories of paying $70 to fill up the tank.

I'm not sure who else thought my prediction was so obvious. I recall a bit of harsh rebuff by others when I made that assertion.
Gas was below $1.75 in most places and the consensus was "The Market" was setting prices.
Anyone want to bet against them recording another record breaking profit year?
I'm not. The only reason my 401k is only down 2% overall is I'm long in Oil and Cash.
Between cronyism & lobbyists here in Congress and in European Governments, and outright bribery of third world despots, they own The World.

The only bubble left to pop is the one formed over the boil that is our current Pimp / Whore arrangement that is the current Corporate / Government relationship.
The Entitlements we have to regulate and reform are the ones formed around Executive Compensation, not Social Security which was taken from my pocket.

No, I'm not channeling Dave, whatever gave you that idea? :D

Yep, gas is going up again. Still, we won't be $4 without a war or other economic catastrophe any time soon. Based on historical trends $60 is well supported at this point. I knew this when it was in the low 30's and was going to buy some but spent it on other stocks instead!

while gas should be around $2-2.50 i will nto be suprised to see it at $3.25-3.50 in the middle of summer. But if it does i also suspect that Obama will do something about it.

I thought that we were at peak oil production! *doom* *gloom*

Good thing that all that drilling and crudding-up of the ANWR brought those outrageous prices down... ohwait.

Alright stop,
collaborate and listen,
Sarah Palin has a brand new invention.

Drilling fad,
grips the nation tightly.
Looking for oil daily and nightly.

Will it ever stop, yo?
I don't know.
But polar bears all need to go

To the north pole where they can huddle with camels
Rolling around and fishing for tasty salmon.

Energy,
Is what our country needs.
But the peace loving hippies won't catch our drilling disease!

Well...instead of driving this summer it will encourage me to stay home.

People stayed home last summer.

People will do it this summer.

High Gas only hurts US Tourism.

gas should be 2.00 to 2.50 a gallon. I believe that is a good price for it. really cheap gas will kill jobs in the oil field all around the country. from last year the rig count in north America is down more than 50%. we have layed off at least hundreds just in the Rockies, even more in the other districts. cheap gas is not necessarily a good thing. really high gas may hurt tourism a bit, but most people don't stop doing much at 2.50 a gallon.

Shocking. I'm predicting right no that gas prices will creep down after Memorial day, level off a little above $2/gal for the summer, back up to $2.50 for Labor day, then back down again for the winter (maybe even under $2, but that'll depend on how the economy is doing).

btw Anyone who saw that my thread about how some FoxNews announces said under the right circumstans gas could go as low as .35 cents a gallon got locked with the stipulation that it would re-opened if I could show a link SHOULD KNOW THAT I DID SEND THE MOD THE LINK. THEN THE MOD DECIDED THAT HE WOULDN'T REOPEN THE THREAD ANYWAY.
SO, here is just some of the documentation:

http://www.americanprogress.or...s/2004/07/b122948.html
Murdoch has acknowledged his major rationale for supporting the Iraq invasion: oil. While both American and British politicians strenuously deny the significance of oil in the war, the Guardian of London notes, "Murdoch wasn't so reticent. He believes that deposing the Iraqi leader would lead to cheaper oil." Murdoch said before the war, "The greatest thing to come out of this for the world economy...would be $20 a barrel for oil. That's bigger than any tax cut in any country." He buttressed this statement when he later said, "Once [Iraq] is behind us, the whole world will benefit from cheaper oil which will be a bigger stimulus than anything else." [Guardian, 2/17/03]

That in itself doesn't prove Fox said .35 a gallon oil, which they did by various of thier "newspeople" but it certainly lets you know that Murdoch himself saw 20 a barrel oil, which certainly would indicate that my claim that some commentators said .35 cents a gallon gas was possible under the right cirucmstances.

Where's my M*F*CKIN" OIL????
