Hi. I'm CtrlAltDestroy, and I work at a computer store. Thing is, I don't know half of what I'm doing. So I'll be needing lots of answers, and fast. Have I come to the right place?

I can't find a job involving computers for the life of me, and I've got 10 years of practical experience. You get hired in a computer store, and you dont know a thing. This annoys me.

I will be able to advise you politically and tell you who won various elections, and also help you find the cause of your emotional problems. I have to warn you about one unfortunate feature common to a large number of AnandTechers. A great many of them fancy themselves as computer geniuses far beyond the maddening crowd, read spoiled egotistical brats, who have as their preferred method of inflating their otherwise useless carcasses, the ridiculing of people who sell computer product, and particularly those who don't really know as much as they should. Hopefully your confession of ignorance and your sincere attempt to learn something so you can become a knowledgeable salesman or saleswoman will forestall that inevitable preening and peacock display, we shall see.

Once you scratch the surface, however, you will find a great deal of knowledge here, and a real willingness to help. Half of it will be incomprehensible, because it will all be in geek, but you may be able to understand. I wish you a great deal of success. It's always nice to see somebody who wants to learn. You have posted in the general off topic thread which is right for your topic, but actual questions of a computer nature should go in their proper forum. If you have car or girl questions, are pissed off at your room mate, etc, come back here. Occasionally there appears a serious thread or two. If you like that sort of thing that will be really cool. Good luck and have fun. Be tough. We have a saying around here that will carry you far. Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. I would add that given that fact, there's no need to let anybody's particular one bother you. We are far more than we can possibly imagine. That was an opinion, naturally.
