Why are people so stupid?

In the past, I left a message on my answering machine like, "Hi, this is StormRider, I'm not able to answer the phone right now so please leave a message and number and I'll contact you as soon as possible".

But sometimes I would hear a message like, "Hi Jean, this is Tom. I'm at the Mall right now. Give me a call. Bye."

And I'm thinking, "WTF? Didn't you hear my message?"

Now I have a newer answering machine and I just use the defauft machine message like, "No one is available to answer the phone, please leave a message at the tone".

And today I get a "Hello? Hello? Hello?!!? Hello?!?!? >>Click<<". I have gotten several of these types of messages. Why don't people listen to the answering machine message?

If your name is stormrider on your answering machine you probably want to join that other guy dressing up at the matrix, you might get along. :)

Oh and to answer your question: because it's an automated machine typically- a human being doesn't hear that part, it's switched over to them on the fly. Typically indicative of telemarketers or bill collectors.

let's not forget those people who use the answering machine to screen messages.

A few of my friends set their cell voicemail to something like "Hello - Hello - You're breaking up - What? - Hello - Hello - I can't hear you - Leave a message".

Fooled me once... :)

Her message says something along the lines of "Hi, this is Jenn, leave a message"

She always gets wrong numbers from people who dont speak english looking for other non english speakers..
