I was trying to see if there were any new updates for Picasa, and I noticed that they were promoting this new program called Hello. I installed the program, and it seems like it has chat capabilities besides its picture sharing abilities. Could this be the rumored Google Messenger?

Is this just a client for AIM and such, or is it a whole new chat program altogether? I mean I love Google as much as the next guy, but I honestly don't see where there is room for another Instant Messenger out there. Hell, EVERYONE I know uses aim and I doubt they are gonna switch over.

Admittedly I don't hang around with the computer types so this might be why, but no one I know switched to gmail. I've been using my school's email for the past 3 years and I can't imagine switching. I dunno, it's like your phone number I guess. It's an established identity and way of contacting you.

From the looks of it, it is a chat program that can connect fellow bloggers. The one cool feature it has is the ability to publish photos to your blog easily. That's not a bad tool if you have your own photo blog.

I just read an article about "closed" P2P apps. Qnext is one of them, about the best for flexibility.
They are supposed to allow you to build a closed network of members that can share files and IM. Most of the apps just allow you to exchange pictures and stream mp3's. They say that streaming mp3's is not filesharing, so it's within acceptable use. Some of the apps cap the amount of members to 30 people, that also goes to beating the acceptable use laws.
I was thinking about previewing Qnext and seeing if anyone at atot would be interested in a closed filesharing group. I haven't previewed the programs limits, so it may be a non-issue.
If anyone cares, here's the link to Qnext.

I'd buy it.

What I really want is a less-bloated Adobe Reader. It takes forever to load even on my a64/2gb ddr :p Google Reader anyone?

I don't know, but thanks for mentioning picasa (now in version 2) because I've never heard of it before and I'm pretty sure it kicks ass.

(Trying it now :))
