my hometown. Where all have you been so far?

1. Airport 2. Slums 3. Hotel 4. Office
The worlds biggest slum is in bombay at a place called Dharavi. Its not a slum in the literal meaning...its more like a poor city within a city. there are many industries located within the slums. it really is something to see as strange as it sounds.

intersting note. My dad is looking to buy some property and told me that some flat sold in south bombay at the price of Rs. 73,000 per sq. ft. Thats about $1500 per sq. ft. and the flat was about 3500 sq. ft. Bombay is prolly the only place in the world where you'll find that kind extremes.

How does "southern indian" cuisine differ from northern?

Its rice based, and lots of different spices. Mostly vegetarian.

Northern is more wheat based, lots of curry dishes, and lots of meat.

The correct name is Bombay. They conjured up some false story about how it was named after a woman named Mumbaya or something... who lived long after the British created the city and named it Bombay

Actually from what I've heard, Mumbai was named after the local goddess, Mumba Devi! I've never heard about the "woman named Mumbaya"..

Juhu Beach FTW! Go to the JW Marriott... Nice club (Enigma) inside. Go down by the Oberois for some good bars and places to eat. Ask a cabbie to take you to get a "Frankie" Its like a chicken roll REAL good!!!
